We are just weeks away from the event and want to pull our volunteers, and would be volunteers together for an informative update…..what we like to call a “pre-game warm up”.

What better way to do it then sippin’ wines at Twisted Oak Vineyards.

Our goal for the party is to sign up 100 people. Every one that signs up for a 2-day tour of duty will go home with a free lift ticket for the 2010/2011 season following the event. What’s a party without prizes? Well, it’s not….so we’ll be giving away a few bottles and prizes just to show you how happy we are you’ll be joining the fun.

Got A Group?
Bring a group from your community organization and we’ll get you signed up to earn a donation to your organization just for sharing your time. Must be a group of 20 or more to qualify for donation. Of course we’ll be serving, the sometimes scandalous, but always tasty Twisted Oak selections paired with some dazzling appetizers.

Who should attend: 21 and over’s looking for more fun stuff to be a part of in our lovely foothills. No pre-requisites except a fun personality that is dying to enjoy cheering on a load of muddy athletes this fall.

Day in the Gates

Come test your skills and run the gates at Bear Valley this Saturday. Lots of Racing going on and we want to help get your training on track. Gates will be set up for your racing enjoyment on Saturday March 13th from 10am-1pm. Lift ticket is required but there is no charge to run the gates. Course staffers will be on hand to manage the runs so come on out and have some fun or do some serious training for upcoming races. Course will be set for intermediate to advanced racers. Registration and liability release will be required, so stop by the information Kiosk in the Sunroom on Saturday Morning.

Never run a gate before? Well now is your chance to see how you do - might find a little Bode or Lindsay Vonn in your inner racer ;-)

Snow Safety Awareness

Join Mattly Trent of the Bear Valley Ski Patrol for a discussion on safety awareness on and off the mountain trials, BVM boundaries and policies, the Bear Valley Ski Patrol Avalanche program and safe travel concepts. Dear Ski and Snowboard Enthusiasts,

As it happens every time with out fail, all we need to do to get more snow is to schedule a ski race. With the Open League Ski Race kicking off last weekend 6 inches of fresh snow piled up. Last night the sky opened up again and and 8 more inches fell over night. AND IT IS STILL SNOWING!

The forecast calls for more snow Friday and Saturday so, tighten up your powder skirts and get out to Bear Valley for some fresh tracks.

If powder is not your thing and you would rather test out your skills on a race course we're setting up a GS course on Saturday Feb. 27th from 10am to 1pm. This will kick of this seasons first "Day at the Gates". The race crew will be on site to maintain the course. All you need is a lift ticket and there is no extra charge to run the course.

Now if fresh powder and a race course is not enough to get you and your family out to the slopes the Bear Valley park crew have been working hard the last few days to expand our backside park. They are pulling out all the features and buidling up the jumps. You can expect to see the staircase and even the barell bonk along side our wall ride, bus and a variety of rails and boxes.

So take some time off to have fun on the slopes!

Adventure Sports Festival - Boulder Bash Oct. 3rd and 4th

Head up this weekend for the "4th Annual Bear Valley Boulder Bash" on Saturday October 3rd, 2009. This fun event is held at the Hells Kitchen bouldering site, 4 miles west of Bear Valley, located a stones throw from scenic Highway 4 at 6,800 feet in the Sierra Nevada. Experienced and novice climbers welcome, including friends and spectators. It's a great excuse to pull, push and cheer while climbers do their dance on the scenic granite boulders. Getting Ready for Winter!

The Lift Maintenance Team has been busy this summer with routine maintenance on all lifts. We recently, successfully, completed 2 required "Dynamic Testings" on both Koala and Super Cub Chairlifts. We have another "Dynamic Test" scheduled for Pooh Lift before the ski season begins. These "Dynamic Testings" simulate a completed loaded lift of skiers/snowboarders and test all braking mechanisms. It is an Industry requirement to have lifts "Dynamic Tested" every 7 years. In addition, we are completing our State of California Tramway Section Lift Inspections. These State inspections occur twice per year, once during the summer and another during mid-winter. Our Lift Maintenance team looks forward to an early winter and lots of snow and will have all lifts ready and operational.

Arnold RIM Trail - Come Check it Out on Sept. 12th!

The Arnold Rim Trail Association (ARTA) invites you participate in a community event on September 12th. The ARTA has joined the Ebbetts Pass National Scenic Byway Celebration, “Come Play on the Byway” event to encourage folks to check out their local trail network in Penny Pines (Stanislaus Nat’l Forest). Walking, Hiking, Biking and Running trips will leave from Cedar Center throughout the day for folks who are interested in participating in a tour led by members of the ARTA. For folks who opt out of experiencing the trail first hand, a photo tour will be set up in Cedar Center so folks can see the highlights of the Trail (White Pines Lake, San Antonio Falls, Top-of-the-World, Cougar Rock, Cowell and San Antonio Creeks). Outdoor outfitters have been invited to participate by being in Cedar Center with booths, gear or whatever presence they feel most appropriate. The ARTA hopes that you will be able to join us on the Trail and then continue along the Byway to enjoy the many activities planned for the day.

Ironstone has done it again with an incredible musical lineup for the summer series. Surrounded by acres of vineyards,the Ironstone Amphitheater is a spectacular venue where you can enjoy music and wine under the stars all summer long. Plans are underway to celebrate the newly constructed State Route between Angels Camp, CA and Murphys, CA. Several local and state entities, are working on a plans for a kick-off party on July 21'st and a ribbon cutting ceremony that will take place on July 22, 2009. The public is invited to join in this Free event.
