28 Feet So Far This Winter!

Great Snow and Uncrowded Slopes... For those seeking the best on mountain experience, room to enjoy it and loads of programs they can’t find anywhere else, Kirkwood is the answer. With base depths ranging from 126-216 inches and over 28 feet of snowfall already this season, Kirkwood’s slopes are in prime shape for skiers and riders of all levels. For those who like it fast and steep, Kirkwood’s High Angle Grooming program will have them looking down some of the steepest groomed terrain in Lake Tahoe, with several black and double black diamond runs covered in wall-to-wall corduroy. Kirkwood’s legendary off-piste terrain such as Wagon Wheel Bowl, the Palisades and Thunder Saddle are all deep and soft and beckoning to the adventurous set to explore! For all levels, Kirkwood’s uncrowded slopes lend a sense of privacy and seclusion that is unmatched in Tahoe.

More Information... For the latest on snow conditions, resort operations or for up-to-date road information, Go Here or call 1-877-KIRKWOOD. See the conditions for yourself...get the weekly Thursday Video Footage Here: in QuickTime or Windows Media.

What They Are Saying

Ranked at the Top... Ranked by SKI Magazine (Oct. 2005) in the top 10 across the Nation in three categories:  Snow, Terrain Variety and Challenge; ranked No. 13 in Value. Skiing Magazine recently named Kirkwood as one of the Top 15 resorts and one of the Top 5 for snow quality. Freeskier Magazine picked Kirkwood as a "Must Ski Resort" (Feb, 2005). Unparalleled expert terrain, a USA Today nationally recognized beginner area, no crowds and just 177 miles from San Francisco via Highway 88, Kirkwood is the ultimate winter destination.

Terrain Parks & The SuperPipe

Parks, Pipes, Hits & Rails... All three terrain parks are open with features for all levels of the freestyle set - gentle rollers and banked turns in Adventureland (Chair 9), low to the snow rails and fun boxes in the DC Playground (Chair 7), and the monster Mountain Dew SuperPipe, along with a full blown rail yard and a series of high flying hits in the DC Stomping Grounds (Chair 5).

80 Groomed Kilometers of XC

Cross Country and Snowshoe... The Center is 100% open, with 80K of groomed double track with skating and snowshoe lanes to the top of the trail system, offering the most terrain of any cross country center in the High Sierra and exquisite views. Sign up for a weekend skate clinic package; trail pass, lesson and rental gear included for just $48! Info: (209) 258-7248.

When You Stay, you Ski FREE!*

Free Tickets With Lodging... Stay & Ski Free packages are available, starting at just $83/person. Available Sunday-Thursday, non-holiday, through March 31st.  Call (800) 967-7500 or log onto www.kirkwood.com to make a reservation.

Also smoking hot this week...and with a $41.00 lift ticket, you're
taking advantage of world-class conditions at a reasonable price.

My personal tip for sliding Alpine.., park at the subway chair,
(take the left turn before the parking lot, then quick right.)
You can buy your ticket and be on the lift in two minutes...
also food at Subway. I take a break and play ball with my
dog, Murphy, next to the parking lot. Unfortunately dogs
cannot ski or ride at Alpine...yet.

Have you tried the new Sherwood Express? You can make a round trip
now in less than five minutes. Compare that to 15 minutes on the
old chair. Excellent backside skiing and riding

Alpine Meadows at $41.00, truly one of the best values in Lake Tahoe
for a world-class alpine-style mountain. Alpine Meadows is truly
a great deal, one of the industry's best values says, Ski Magazine.
