The EXTREMES and SKIERCROSS

Kirkwood's Legendary Cirque... This permanently closed area located at the heart of the resort, is the venue for Tahoe’s biggest freeskiing event, locally known as The Extremes. Mountain Sports International (MSI) is the event organizer for the 10th Annual Subaru North American Freeskiing and Skiercross Championships, March 30-April 2, 2006. Boasting a $34,500 prize purse, this four-day competition serves as The Finals for the world’s biggest freeskiing and skiercross tours.

Over 200 of the world’s top competitors have worked all year towards this event, in pursuit of the most prestigious titles in the sport—Subaru U.S. Skiercross Series, Subaru U.S. Freeskiing Series, and Freeskiing World Tour Overall Champions. Kirkwood has been hammered hard with snowfall this Spring, opening up new terrain for competitors in this year’s event. The Cirque, as well as the event, is featured in the March/April issue of Skiing Magazine.

America's Deepest Snow... As usual, Kirkwood again holds claim to the Deepest Snow in North America, with 675 inches of snowfall already this season. The forecast calls for more snow throughout the week, likely pushing Kirkwood over the 700 inch mark. Base depths remain solid, with 25+ feet of base average on the mountain. The mountain is 100% open, offering 2300 acres of terrain for skiers and riders of all abilities.

For the latest snow totals, resort operations and road conditions, visit www.kirkwood.com or call 1-877-KIRKWOOD.

Events and Expeditions

April Events... Upcoming events include the Sort of Famous Banked Slalom on April 8th, and the 13th Annual Spring Snow Party Bonanza, Jammin’ from April 14-16Pond skimming, rail jams, big air comps and loads of fun events for the family make this the premiere spring snow party. More events.

Expedition: Kirkwood... On April 15th, Expedition: Kirkwood has added an all-level Snowboard Camp to its lineup. Beginner to expert ability is welcome; expedition guides teach campers how to find the best snow, seek out the best lines and get the most from their day. Availability is extremely limited, interested parties are encouraged to make reservations in advance. For a full schedule of all Camps and Expeditions, go here or call Expedition HQ at (209) 258-7360
