Sliding on the Cheap! Heavy Snow in Sierra, Alpine/Homewood Combo Pass, Early Season Deals, More!

Hello Sliders!

Snowing heavily in Tahoe!  Boreal, atop Donner Summit, reporting
nine inches of fresh snow by noon with more on the way.  Yes, dear
sliders, it happens every season.  One second it's 80 degrees, the
next, you're in a mad dash to dig out your gear.

Fear not dear sliders!  We have you covered.  Boreal is generally
the first resort open with early snow, and this year appears to be
no exception.  They are scheduled to open on October 31st, and with
fresh snow, expect many other resorts to be opening early as well.

*Alpine Meadows and Homewood Combo Season Pass!
For the first time, Alpine Meadows and Homewood Mountain Resort are
offering the all new Alpine/Homewood Adult Midweek Combo Pass for
just $649.  Visit skialpine.com or skihomewood.com for more details.

The benefits of using the new Alpine/Homewood Combo Pass include
access to 3,400 acres of the most varied terrain and vertical feet,
mountain-top views of Lake Tahoe, plus the new high speed detachable
quad at Homewood -- delivering you from mid-mountain to the summit
in just 4 minutes.  And the best part, Alpine Meadows and Homewood
are not miles apart...  a mere 15-minute drive from each other.

Purchase your Full Season, Midweek or Combo Passes & Family Season
Passes at skihomewood.com or skialpine.com.  Midweek Combo Pass
valid Monday through Friday with the exception of 12/26/07 -
12/28/07, 12/31/07.  All early season rates valid now through
11:59PM, November 30, 2007.
Alpine/Homewood Combo Pass

*What the...?   La Nina, El Nino?
Why the sudden winter?  Our meteorologist, KCBS weather guru Mike
Pechner says we're headed for a La Nina winter, meaning colder than
normal ocean water temps.  While we won't get pounded with severe
winter storms like El Nino, it's likely to SNOW and not RAIN at
higher elevations, and the temperatures could range below normal,
meaning better snow, top to bottom.  A welcome change from El Nino,
when we get plenty of rain along with all that powder.

*Northstar-at-Tahoe and Sierra-at-Tahoe Double Whammy Passes on Sale!

*How about Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe
For our Reno readers and our Bay Area sliders who love Mt. Rose.
Mt. Rose received 2-3 inches today and are looking forward to an early
November opening.  What's so great about Rose?  It feels more like
a club than a resort, with plenty of passholders who know how to
ski and ride (courteously).  Enough vertical to choke a horse, yet
some of the best beginner terrain in Tahoe.  Webcams available at
http://www.skirose.com.  Mt. Rose, in conjunction with Reno offers
some fantastic ski and stay specials.  (don't spend too much time
in the casinos, dear sliders) Reno Ski & Stay Packages available
from $69 http://www.skirose.com/general_information/lodging_packages.php
