Whether you purchased in the spring, summer, or this fall, your Bear Valley season pass will get you discounts up & down the Highway 4 Corridor. As we get ready for winter here in Bear Valley, there are still plenty of activities to fill your weekends with... copper valley trail ride

Copper Valley Trail Company is offering unique riding experiences in the Copperopolis Foothills.  The Trailhead is located  right off of Hwy 4.  Offering rides varying in length from one hour to 4 hours.  All of the horses used for trail riding have been trained to work in the foothill terrain.  They are very safe, love to work, and will give guests a very enjoyable ride.  Each ride begins with a brief riding instruction session, so that riders are confident of their ability to direct the horses before we head out onto the trail.  On the trail, you will enjoy the beautiful scenery native to the Calaveras Foothills, with seasonal creeks and beautiful ponds.  It's a wonderful way to take the foothill experience a little bit further.  We're open year round, and fall is a beautiful time of year to ride! Sliding on the Cheap! More Snow, Kids Programs, Show Updates, Swag, More!

Hello Sliders!

More than six inches of snow fell on the south shore this week,
further indications that an early ski and snowboard season is just
weeks away. "How far away?" you ask... We had to know--so we
called the best meteorologist on the planet! Well, at least he
takes our calls, and he's scary accurate when it comes to High
Sierra weather. KCBS weather guru, Mike Peckner! See his forecast
for snow below. When will the lifts begin spinning? November 17th
seems to be the likely opening day, but with snow in the forecast,
you might be sliding on Halloween, just a couple weeks away!
Speaking of great passes...make sure to check out Boreal's
$99 season pass--and have you seen thier monster pipe lately?
Nice....

*Boreal - We Love Boreal's New Pipe--So Will You!
Shred it first at Boreal! Passes on Sale Now -- Starting as low
as $99! Wall to wall parks, day and night skiing and riding! Buy
before Halloween to get the best deals. Boreal's Pre-Season 2nd
Annual Pro Rail Invitational & Film Premier -- Saturday, October 14th.

Make sure to cut and paste the entire link for the season pass deal!

*Boreal for Kids!
Check out the Moving Carpet just for Kids Club participants!
The Boreal Kids Club is a fun and simple way for your kids to learn
to ski or snowboard. Boreal Kids Club is designed to teach kids
of all abilities ages 4-10 (snowboarding starts at age 7) to ski
and ride the mountain. Expert instructors teach kids the skills
they need to learn to stop and turn, load and unload the chair lift
and navigate the mountain safely. These skills become the foundation
http://www.rideboreal.com/

*Kids, Kids Kids...
Every season, we get requests for info on sliding rugrats. Seems
everyone is looking for a deal, when it comes to kids. This week,
we list some of the kids programs available this winter at the
various resorts. Once prices are set, we'll report back on what
we think are the best deals... I know that price is no object when
it comes to that little prince and princess, so spend your hard
earned dollars where YOU want to ski or ride, since kids programs
at all the resorts are excellent.

Here can you find a complete recap of kids programs and ongoing
deals throughout the season? http://www.slidingonthecheap.com/

*Here are a few SOTC's kids tips...
When kids get cold, they're not having fun! Don't skimp on the
jackets and pants after dropping huge dollars on the latest kid's
gear. Kids lose gloves and mittens. Use an attachment system and
put thier darling little name on everything--including skis, boards
and poles. Use masking tape for the skis and boards and write names
on the gear.

Also! Place unique stickers on skis, poles, boots and snowboards.
When they forget where they laid those pesky skis, you'll spend a
whole lot less time looking for them if they don't look like
everyone's gear!

Helmets, helmets, helmets... Yeah, I never used one, and look how
far I got! But with kids these days, they're considered standard
equipment. Make sure they fit!
www.slidingonthecheapgear.com for great helmet prices

Lease ski and snowboard gear for the season. That ensures you have
the best gear year in and year out, regardless how much they might
have grown.

Don't forget to have fun yourself! There's no chance your kids
will grow up to be skiers/riders if you find the whole experience to be a
hassle. If you don't ski, go to a resort that has shopping, wireless internet
or just a comfortable spot by the fire--near the bar. If you want to
watch your kids, Boreal, Tahoe-Donner and Diamond Peak
offer decks that overlook the beginner areas.

The smaller resorts have great kids programs, and often times they're
cheaper than the world class resorts. If you and your kids are
beginners, you may save money at the smaller resorts.

RESERVATIONS!
Most resorts require advance reservations for thier kids enclusive
programs.

*Weather Predictions from KCBS Meteorologist Mike Pechner!
6-10 inches of snow fell above 6500 feet at South Shore. Major
storm inbound October 21st and 22nd, bringing over a foot of new
snow and temperatures cold enough that with snowmaking, resorts
will be tempted to open before Halloween. Mike Pechner, our weather
guru, says that El Nino could be a postive factor for this upcoming
winter.

Mike's pre Christmas forcast? Looks like another season with good
pre-holiday skiing and riding, when ticket and lodging prices
are still rock bottom!
