National Safety Awareness Week
Safety Awareness WeekNational Safety Awareness Week (January 17th - 24th) features week long activities on snow safety. Bear Valley Ski Patrol is currently offering Avalanche Beacon training, and will culminate in a beacon finding contest on Sat. January 24th. Our mountain operations are hard at work building sculptures highlighting the Skier's Responsibility Code and you'll get to vote for your favorite scene! Stop by our Patrol booth located at the day lodge from 11a-4p on Saturday (Jan. 24th) to cast your vote. On Saturday you will also have the opportunity to win some sweet BV swag by joining the fun with our Scavenger Hunt. Just swing by the Patrol booth for details!!


Annual Telemark FestivalTelemark Skier

The 13th Annual Bear Valley Telemark Ski Festival is returning to Central Sierra Nevada February 6-10, 2009.  This unique festival attracts freeheel skiers from around the globe who flock to the small alpine village of Bear Valley for educational clinics, equipment demos, races, backcountry skiing, and banquets.  It doesn't matter if you are new to telemark skiing or have been executing this stylish turn for years, the Bear Valley Telemark Festival offers a wide range of activities to challenge and satisfy all attendees. TODAY ON THE MOUNTAIN

Sunny skies today with east north east winds around 10-15mph. A High pressure system will move over the area late thursday, so look for that system to bring us a bounty of sunshine days. The New Year Is here and the skiing is great on a 40" average base. Come on up and schralp some lines with us! 

Cross-Country center is open with 27 trails available. The Meadow Cafe and  Sledding Hill
are also open ... stop by the Village for more fun!!

Snow Report for Tuesday - Jan 6, 2009

TODAY ON THE MOUNTAIN

Looks like a bit of clear weather with a few clouds until Thursday then a chance of snow.
The high temps should creep up a bit this week to around 50° and the lows will drop to
around the mid teens. Our first snowcat skiing tour happened Dec 27th and was a huge hit.
Contact M.A.S. or see our website for more info. Also, check with M.A.S for info on
our "Zones Ski Tour". Come rip it up with us on an incredible "out of bounds powder tour".
Happy New Year to all and we'll see you on the slopes.
