SUMMER KICK-OFF: GREAT UPCOMING EVENTS

Blues, Brews, & BBQ at Beaver Creek
May 26-27, 2007
Escape to Beaver Creek and kick-off the summer (& BBQ) season this Memorial Day Weekend. This annual festival features live music on the plaza, BBQ by grillmasters from across the country, and the largest Colorado microbrew beer tasting in the state.

Teva Mountain Games at Vail
May 30 - June 3, 2007
With something for the entire family, this event is sure to please with events and racing in mountain biking, trail running, kayaking, fly-fishing, and climbing.

Breckenridge Festival of Film
June 7-10, 2007
In its 27th year, the Breckenridge Festival of Film celebrates the art and craft of filmmaking. Each year, a unique and varied array of independent films, premiers, receptions, educational programs and retrospectives honoring featured guests takes place high in the Colorado Rockies.

Opening Day Lake Tahoe
June 16-17, 2007
The Third Annual Opening Day Lake Tahoe includes lake activities in the Blue World, the first-ever Blue Avenue Block Party down at Stateline, the Great Lake Tahoe Sternwheeler Race, the Miss Hawaiian Tropic Northern Nevada State Finals, the Mardi Gras Boat Parade, the 2007 Step Into The Blue Recreational Expo at Heavenly Village, and live music featuring Jewel, Sammy Hagar, Lindsey Buckingham (formerly of Fleetwood Mac) and more!

World Music Festival at Keystone
June 23, 2007
River Run at Keystone is celebrating cultures straight from the West Indies, South America and beyond! Our combination, calypso and reggae-influenced event blends live music, an International marketplace, dancers and drummers, artwork and tasty dishes from the Caribbean Islands and beyond.

    TOP 5 EASY TO ACCESS MOUNTAIN HIKES

    1. Heavenly- From the top of the Gondola, enjoy a hike on one of Heavenly's three hiking routes. From easy to more difficult, the trails meander through the high Sierra forest with awesome views of Lake Tahoe along the way. Routes vary from 1.6 miles to just under four miles round-trip.
    2. Keystone- Keystone's Mountain Trek: The Summit Express chairlift will take you to the top of Dercum Mountain for a guided walking tour to learn about local animals, wildflowers, plants & history. The tour is FREE to guests of Keystone with the Adventure Passport.
    3. Vail- Wander through fields of brilliant wild flowers, native wildlife and breathtaking views by taking a gondola ride up to the top of Vail Mountain and get a glimpse of our own "14-er", the Mount of the Holy Cross, or start your hike from one of many trails.
    4. Beaver Creek- Spruce Saddle Loop, a beginner/intermediate trail, is great for families and nature students and is filled with interactive, 5-senses features over gentle sloping terrain.
    5. Breckenridge- Mohawk Lakes is gorgeous in the summer. Hike to 3 lakes, and a waterfall with wildflowers all along the way. This hike is perfect for the beginner or the expert hiker because you have the choice of which lake to hike for your ability. Bring your dogs and let them jump in too!
