Sliding on the Cheap! Resorts Open! Discount Ticket Rundown, Swag, Snowboard Sale, More!

Hello Sliders!

What's it like in Truckee? Freezing cold! Temperatures this morning
at 7:30am were bouncing around zero. No worries for my golden
retriever, Murphy, who bounded out ready for action in a foot of
fresh snow, happy regardless of the temperature.

What does that mean for the ski resorts? Nirvana like snow making
conditions and all the major resorts are taking advantage. Plenty
of terrain open this weekend and with temperatures forecast to stay
cool, the snow ought to be in great shape at your favorite, or
(cheapest priced) resorts. Who has the deals? SOTC of course!
Scan down, dear sliders for a bounty of savings on the slopes and
on gear! We've got a killer snowboard deal for SOTC readers,
Verticals, helmets at slidingonthecheapgear.com and more.

Note! Yes dear sliders..time once again for my gentle coaching on
what you're gonna read below. Make sure to call your favorite

Sliding on the Cheap! Alert! Northstar Opens, $29 Tixs, $399 Double Whammy Pass!

Hello Sliders!

It's snowing! 8-10 inches of new snow hits Donner summit, and another
8 or 10 is likely on the way as the first big winter storm pounded
the High Sierra yesterday and it will continue snowing today.

Northstar is open!

Northstar opens with discount pricing of $29.00. Don't expect this
price to last, so if you're off this week and you want to catch
first tracks at Northstar at the lower price, take advantage.

Mike Pechner, KCBS and SOTC meteorologist says to expect clearing
tonight and then fair and cold weather right through the end of the
week.

Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with
four of 16 lifts turning including the Gondola Express, Arrow
Express, Bear Paw Double, and the adult carpet for those interested
in taking lessons. Five runs are open and have been groomed,
including Upper and Lower Main Street, Lumberjack, Woodchuck, and
Snowboard Alley.

Have you been to Northstar lately? Expect to find a 2,400 acres
of skiing, riding and cross country and snow shoeing! (Best viewed
using a pair of our own Vertical sunglasses). There's a new village,
expert skiing and riding on Lookout Mountain, a wide array of
snowboard parks and pipes, one of the best ski schools and Children's
learning centers on the planet and of course, Northstar's world-class
groomed slopes, front and backside!

Note! This summer, Northstar removed the old Pioneer chair and
replaced it with a high speed six-pack renamed the Tahoe Zephyr!
How do I use this chair you ask? Excellent question, dear sliders.
When you reach the lodge at Big Springs, take the new high-speed
Tahoe Zephyr and access the backside through a newly cut run, or,
take a short ride on the (new) Poma lift that drops you into Lookout
Mountain, or, ski the intermediate runs feeding off of the Zephyr,
or use the Home Run as a short cut to the parking lot without having
to walk through the village. Arrive early and park at (F) in the
regular Northstar parking lot and you can ski or ride directly to
your car from the Home Run.

Purchase a Double Whammy season pass today and ski or ride some of
Tahoe's finest terrain at both Northstar(tm) Resort and Sierra(tm)
Resort this winter. Double Whammy passes start at just $399. In
just six visits, the pass has paid for itself! Skiers and riders
can turn in their lift ticket for a credit toward a season pass.

Looks like a great winter ahead, sliders!
