Topping the "A" List

Come and Get it... With a base elevation of 7,800 feet and a reputation for the most and best snow in Tahoe, Kirkwood is the top of the list for locals and visitors alike. The resort is 100% open with all 2,300 powder-packed acres available; the terrain is in immaculate shape from top to bottom. For those who like it fast and steep, Kirkwood offers the South Shore’s most extensive high angle grooming, with several black and double black diamond runs covered in wall-to-wall corduroy. Kirkwood’s legendary off-piste terrain such as Wagon Wheel Bowl, the Palisades and Thunder Saddle are all deep and soft and beckoning to the adventurous set to explore!

For all levels, Kirkwood’s uncrowded slopes will be a welcome change to the frantic pace of most other resorts during the holidays. Parks, Pipes, Hits & Rails

Flyin' High... All three terrain parks are open with features for all levels of the freestyle set - gentle rollers and banked turns in AdventureLand (Chair 9), low to the snow rails and fun boxes in the DC Playground (Chair 7, the TC Express), and the monster Mountain Dew SuperPipe, along with a full blown rail yard and a series of high flying hits in the DC Stomping Grounds (Chair 5).

Next X Snow Search for Kids

Got What it Takes? The Sports Illustrated for Kids Next X Snow Search Qualifier is on Saturday, January 14th. This Slopestyle event will be held in the DC Playground on Chair 7; competition is open to skiers and riders ages 9-13.

The winner is flown to Killington, VT to compete in the nationally sponsored Kellogg’s Next X Snow Search competition, which will be covered by NBC during the Olympics. For more information, call (209) 258-7406 or Go Here.

Cross Country and Snowshoe Center

You've Gotta Try It... The Cross Country Ski and Snowshoe Center is 100% open, with 80K of groomed double track with skating and snowshoe lanes to the top of the trail system, offering the most terrain of any cross country center in the High Sierra and exquisite views.  Sign up for a weekend skate clinic package; trail pass, lesson and rental gear included for just $48! Call (209) 258-7248 for more information.
