New Development Scoping Session PlannedNew Development Scoping Session Planned

The USFS (United States Forest Service) and Bear Valley Mountain plan to hold a public scoping meeting regarding the implementation of a series of projects from its master development plan including plans for a high speed lift from Bear Valley Village. This meeting is scheduled for August 2nd, 10 AM and will take place at the Bear Valley Lodge, Cathedral Lounge. Please join us for this informative session. More Info>

Adventure Sports Festival, August 16-17 Bear Valley Adventure Sports Festival - August 16 & 17

Come celebrate the thrill of human powered recreation in the beautiful High Sierra village of Bear Valley located at 7,000 feet along scenic Highway 4 between Lake Tahoe and Yosemite. A variety of outdoor activities including rock climbing, road cycling, mountain biking, flatwater kayaking and hiking will blend into an exciting weekend of adventure, education, competition and fun. It doesn't matter whether you "pull, pedal or paddle", or simply just want to try a new outdoor sport in a safe and supportive environment, the Bear Valley Adventure Sports Festival has something for everybody.

Everyone is welcomed to participate in as little or much as they desire. Pre-registration s encouraged and spaces are limited.

    Festival Highlights:
  • Road Cycling: Ebbetts Pass Century - 101 miles; 12,800 ft. of climbing; 1st 100 registrations receive a space into 2009 Death Ride (entry fee not included).
  • Mountain Bike Race: Grizzly Challenge - 1 to 3 laps; 8.75 miles/lap; 1500 ft. of climbing/lap; cash prizes
  • Rock Climbing: Clinics , Adventures  & Kids  - all ages and abilities welcome
  • Bouldering Competition: Bear Valley Boulder Bash - 100+ problems; V0-V6+; 5 divisions; cash prizes
  • Kayaking: Lake Alpine Paddling Adventure & Lunch - enjoy time on the water and "adventure treaure hunt" leading to lunch.  Fun for the whole family
  • Plus More! Trail Running, Hiking and Disc Golf (details coming soon ...)
