 HIBERNATION'S LAST STAND
On Friday, June 23rd, Hibernation was pulled out of the ground for good! Ground crews have been working diligently since mid-May, trying to prepare the area for the final pull. Helicopters were flown in to pull the massive towers out of the ground, making room for the new lift. Lift Operations Manager, Jake Wilson, was impressed at the skill and stealth of the heli-pilots. "Each tower was pulled out within minutes. It was amazing!" All towers and chairs are being stored in the upper parking lot (read on for your chance to own a piece of Bear Valley history). "This is a very exciting time for both Bear Valley and the Highway 4 Corridor," says Mountain Manager, Sean Murphy. "And it's just the beginning." Leitner-Poma crews have been on site for the last several weeks, preparing for the installation of the new lift. Ground work began this week on the new lift. So long Hibernation... Bear Valley's Main Office (next to the sundeck) will be open Saturday, July 22nd, from noon-5pm for Hiber Chair sales & pick up. 06/07 passholders can buy their bit of Bear Valley history for $200, or $250 for non-passholders. Greetings Bear Valley enthusiasts, the “1st Annual Bear Valley Boulder Bash” is coming to the High Sierra Nevada this August 18-20, 2006. From boulders to big walls this unique outdoor rock climbing festival blends education, adventure, competition and celebration over three action packed days. Beginning through expert climbers welcome, including the kids. Regardless of whether you are a rock climber or not, everybody in town is welcome to join the festivities Saturday evening at BaseCamp for an organic dinner buffet, slideshow and live music. Who knows you might wake up Sunday morning as a reincarnated rock climber.
