Hello Sliders-

“Whoop – dee -doo, I stepped in dog doo!”  “
Lucky me, the filling fell out of my tooth!” “
What a steal, $65 bucks for a lift ticket!”.  Those are just a few lines
you won’t hear me saying. We’re working hard at Sliding on the Cheap
to make your dollars work hard for you on the slopes. Yet, even us skin flints
understand that the ski areas need to turn a dime. They have expenses to pay,
insurance to carry, payroll to make, but we prefer to let someone else
pay full sticker price, us SOTC sliders would rather slide hard,
slide fair and have fun on the cheap!   That said – we have some
great deals which will keep some green in your pocket this week…
just don’t tell the flatlanders!

*Wildcat Mountain-   Leap up to Wildcat!
In order to celebrate February 29th, Wildcat has made some
lift tickets available on the cheap at www.liftopia.com
Also, as mentioned before, the Sunday cruise is a cheap way to
get some thrills sliding from Noon to 4pm for $20 on Sunday afternoons.
Head over to Pinkham Notch for some great classic New England sliding
while you  focus your goggles on the sights of  Mount Washington,
Tuckerman’s Ravine, Gulf of Slides, etc. www.skiwildcat.com

*Ragged Mountain – Mom’s Day!, Two’s Day!
Head over to Ragged (it’s not too far from Boston or Manchester),
for some great midweek deals. Mondays become a special day for
women of all ages (and guys dressed in drag, shhh) slide whether a
mom or not for $25!  Tuesdays aren’t half bad either with Two’s Day
(as in two for one sliding). Grab a buddy, skip work and enjoy
midweek sliding all day for half price. www.raggedmountainresort.com

*Gunstock Mountain – Wall to wall Wednesday!
They say you learn something new everyday, get this –
Gunstock is home to the first chairlift (let’s hope it’s been updated or retired!).
Wednesday is a great day for sliding at Gunstock. While the rest of the
world will be climbing the walls at school or work, Gunstock is having
“Wall to wall Wednesday” with $25 dollar sliding from 4pm to close!
You can put in a day of work and still get your jollies on the slopes.

*Flex tickets at Potter Brothers Ski Shops!
New York and Massachusetts area sliders can save BIG with flex tickets!
Catamount, Belleayre, Hunter, Jiminy Peak, Thunder Ridge and Windham
ski areas are participating in this on-line discount ticket promotion.

*Magic Mountain- Touring Tuesdays! Car Pool Wednesdays!
If you’re the type of slider who yearns for old fashioned, no frills,
knock your socks off New England sliding, Magic is your type of mountain!
No, this is not the place where you’ll find sushi on the slopes, nor is it another
one of those mascara mountains, where making a fashion statement is more
important than the sliding.  Magic rocks with old school charm and kick tail trails!
Earn your turns on Tuesdays with Touring Tuesdays. Bring your skins and tele gear
because you’ll be skiing for free, but you’ll be earning your turns rather than
riding the lifts! You’ll get off the beaten tract and into all of those secret
stashes on Touring Tuesdays. * Snowfall will determine availability.
You’ll need to purchase a lift ticket if you wish to ride the lifts.
Car Pool Wednesdays – New England’s best deal!  $75 a carload on non-holiday
Wednesdays gets you and your friends and family on the lifts at Magic.

*Jiminy Peak –Get a friend sliding, you slide FREE!  Save on State Days!
Located in Massachusett’s Berkshire mountains, Jiminy Peak
offers a great deal to get new sliders on the slopes. Do something nice
for one of your non-sliding friends and take them sliding.
Why not share the fun?  You slide free when you download this
e-coupon and turn a buddy on to skiing or snowboarding
(valid Sunday – Friday,non-holiday). My first time was,
“this is a snow plow, this is the top of the mountain, that is a mogul field…see ya!”
Bad karma to say the least, this deal is the way to go.
Save some $$ on State days at Jiminy Peak, bring some state ID
and save $8 off a lift ticket! Tuesdays- NY and Pa residents save.
Wednesdays- Mass and NJ residents save, and Thursdays –
CT and VT residents save some cash. www.jiminypeak.com

That’s all the sliding deals for this week. If you know of any deals
you’d like to share, let us know of them. Gotta go,  I need to go find a
stick to scrape this stuff off of my shoe.

                                       Keep thinking snow,
                                                Mark

Sliding on the Cheap! Big Powder Inbound, Season Pass Exchange, Heavenly Group Deal, Northstar Video Contest, More!

Hello Sliders!

Winter is back this weekend, with plenty of new snow in the
forecast, so if you missed all that January
powder, you've just earned another chance to blast
through (possibly) waist deep powder.  We've got Mike
Pechner's SnowCast below, and it's looking pretty good
for several feet of snow by the end of the weekend,
then sunny skies for lucky midweek sliders next week.

Sliding on the Cheap! Alert! How About Reno & Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe For An Affordable Holiday!

Hello Sliders!

While we hate to giveaway our best secrets, we've been getting
hundreds of requests for (affordable & available ) lodging,
especially for the President's Holiday and Ski Week!

*Ski & Stay in Reno/Slide Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe!

That's right! Drive right over the summit and down into Reno where
thousands of hotel rooms are within spitting distance of
Lake Tahoe. While President's Holiday is huge around the Lake,
it's less of an issue in Reno, where you can still find great lodging at
reasonable rates, not to mention the euphoria of bellying up to the
(classic) $5.99 All You Can Eat buffet, after a hard day on the slopes.

Once the car is parked your (return) tank of gas is safe, since you can take a
shuttle up and back to Mt. Rose, twice a day.
Here's a direct link for a bounty of choices:

*Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe?
From Tahoe's Highest Base (elevation 8,260'), you're launched nearly
1,800 vertical feet in 3.5 minutes. The reward? Panoramic views of Lake Tahoe
and Nevada. The real payoff begins as you descend into 1,200 acres of
some of the Sierra's best powder. The recent opening of the Chutes puts Rose
in a whole new league. Find out for yourself about Tahoe's best kept secret.
It's the one resort in Tahoe that NEVER feels holiday crowded, since
most of the skiers and riders are Reno locals.  Rose has decided to
include two great deals for the holiday:  Weekend Extender
and Runs and Roses.

Adult Lift tickets are bargained priced:
Adult (18 & up) $62
Senior (60-74) $42
Super Senior (75+) FREE midweek non-holiday*
Teen** (13-17) $42
Child (6-12) $17
Children 5 & under are FREE
For ages 11 and up.

SOTC CREW FAVORITE DEALS!

First TimeR Package -  $49.00 ALL INCLUSIVE!
With gentle wide-open slopes served by three dedicated beginner lifts,
Mt. Rose—Ski Tahoe has some of Lake Tahoe’s best beginner terrain.
Combined with our dedicated staff, teaching methods and
“beginner specific” rental equipment – you’ll have a ton of fun and
learn a great new sport all at the same time. First Timer  Lesson Times
Package Includes:
• All-Day Beginner Lift Ticket (2 lifts only)
• All-Day Rental Equipment (ski or snowboard, equipment may be used all day)
• Lesson (90 minutes)

*MT. ROSE-SKI TAHOE DEALS VALID OVER THE HOLIDAY!

Weekend Extender Package Valid Over The Holiday Weekend!
3 consecutive lift tickets (Fri-Sat-Sun, or Sat-Sun Mon) for $124.

Runs & Roses Family Deal Valid Over The Weekend!
$124 family packages includes full-day lift tickets for two
adults & two children! Available every day.

MIDWEEK DEALS VALID NEXT WEEK!
Mt. Rose Midweek Deals will all be valid next week, for those
taking the holiday, and making it into a full ski week.

2 Fer Tuesdays!
Get two full-day lift tickets for the price of one! Valid that day only.

Student $29.00 Wednesdays!
Student day. Present any current student ID (college, high school, etc...)
and receive a full-day lift ticket for $29! **
Ladies Day Thursdays!
All women receive a full-day lift ticket for $19.

We love Mt. Rose, it's a locals paradise, even if you're coming up from
the Bay Area.  A great choice for President's Holiday and Ski Week!
