Because Labor Day weekend signals the unofficial beginning of the
ski/snowboard season when resorts and retailers blow out gear at

Some Season Pass deals are ending Labor Day Weekend. Season Passes,

NEW GONDOLA UPDATE AT BRECKENRIDGE & BEAVER CREEK

BRECKENRIDGE: Gondola construction means that it's been a busy summer! The new gondola will start from the Breckenridge Transportation Center located right off historic Main Street and have terminals at both Peak 7 and Peak 8. All the concrete has been poured, and they terminals are underway. Tower installation is expected to start soon, and the cabins will be arriving in September from Europe. The gondola is expected to open during the 2006/07 season.

BEAVER CREEK: Guests staying outside Beaver Creek will be able to ride a gondola for the 2007/08 season. The new 8-passenger gondola will link the Town of Avon to Beaver Creek Landing where guests can reach the main mountain via Lower and Upper BC Mountain Express Lifts.

ACTOR/MUSCIAN JOHN CORBETT HIGHLIGHTS MUSIC FESTIVAL Whether starring in movies like My Big Fat Greek Wedding, and Raising Helen or playing with his band, John Corbett brings a naturalness and easy grace to his performances. John and his band will play on Thursday, August 10 at the Bear Valley Music Festival – now in its 38th season.   John’s acting credits also include roles in the acclaimed TV series Sex and the City and Northern Exposure. “Music has always been central to my life -- much more so than acting,” Corbett says. “Acting is how I make my living. Music has always been a passion. It’s something I love, something I can’t live without.” The band’s appearance is part of the festival’s two weeks of live musical performances ranging from show tunes to jazz to opera. Voted the best summer attraction in the central Sierra, the festival is held in the mountain hamlet of Bear Valley located at 7000 feet on the Hwy. 4 approach to Ebbetts Pass. Dennis Edwards & the Temptations BEAR VALLEY TUNES UP FOR 38TH MUSIC SEASON Symphonies at 7000 feet? Absolutely! As well as rock, opera, show tunes, jazz, pop and country music. The Bear Valley Music Festival, held annually over a two-week period, opens with “The Temptations” Review on Saturday, July 29. Now in its 38th year, the festival has become a signature activity of summer in eastern California.   Headliners on the 2006 Program This year’s event kicks off with “The Temptations” Review with Dennis Edwards on Saturday evening, July 29. In addition to several symphony evenings, other performances include “Broadway Pops” show tunes & Phantom of the Opera favorites (Aug. 3), jazz with Julia Dollison (Aug. 4), Van Cliburn Silver Medalist, pianist, Joyce Yang (Aug. 5), John Corbett Band (Aug. 10) and “Madame John Corbett Band members with Bear Valley Gals- (L-R) Merri Donovan, John Corbett, Holly Acosta, Tara Novick and Anna McGuire Butterfly” opera (Aug. 12). Again this season, two performances, including the opera on Aug. 10, also will be held in the Sonora Opera Hall. Former lead singer for The Temptations, Dennis Edwards, heads up the opening performance. Hits like “I Can’t Get Next To You”, and “Papa Was A Rolling Stone” led to his being awarded 14 Gold Albums, Five Grammy's and Seven Grammy nominations. He was also inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in 1989. John Corbett, best known for his credits as the actor in Sex and the City, Northern Exposure and My Big, Fat, Greek Wedding will be bringing his band up to play some country music for us on August 10. BEAR VALLEY ADVENTURE COMPANY ACTIVITIES IN FULL SWING The Bear Valley Adventure Company is the summer home of the cross country ski operation and features the same friendly staff to help you make your outdoor adventure memorable. Their paddling program also includes sunset tours and various lesson programs for small groups and families.
